CBSE Class 12 Board Exams Results on May 20, 22

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will declare the Class XII (12) Board Exam Results for Chennai, Ajmer and Panchkula regions on May 20, 2009 at 10:00 Hrs. Results for Class 12 for other regions i.e., Delhi, Guwahati and Allahabad regions is scheduled to be announced on May 22, 2009 at 10:00 Hrs.

Students can get the results on their e-mail addresses by registering themselves on websites – www.results.nic.in and www.cbseresults.nic.in.

Karnataka CET 2009 Results on May 25, 2009

Results of the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) 2009 for professional courses will be declared as per the schedule on May 25, without waiting for the announcement of CBSE class 12 exam results.

Students who wrote CBSE class 12 exams this year are yet to get their results, even one month after the exams getting over. According to CBSE regional office in Chennai, results are expected in June first week. However, in Karnataka the results of CET for professional courses are scheduled to be announced on May 25.

AIIMS scraps 50% cut-off marks in MBBS entrance exam- TOI

TOI reports that Unable to fill all reserved category seats last year, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has decided to do away with 50% cut-off criteria in its AIIMS MBBS entrance exam from this academic session. The decision is likely to spark controversy as faculty members and junior doctors feel that this is is in violation of SC order, according to which, there ought to be cut-off marks in all medical entrance exams.

Now, if a reserved category student scores a zero or negative marks he/she can still get admission in AIIMS provided there is seat available in category he/she belongs to. According to rules, if reserved category seats are not filled, then these will filled up by general category students.

“Now, a reserved category student will get admission in AIIMS even if he/she scores zero in the entrance exam. A general category student with 50% marks will be rejected as the seat belongs to the reserved category. The 50% marks in entrance exam was a way to to get deserving students in AIIMS,” said Dr Rahul Bhargava, president, Resident Doctors’ Association, AIIMS.

CLAT 2009 Law Entrance Postponed, New Dates Soon

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), the admission Test to India’s 11 premier national law universities , scheduled for Sunday has been postponed after two locked and sealed steel trunks containing test material were found tampered with while in transit from Hyderabad to Lucknow , reports the Times of India. New dates for the undergraduate and postgraduate programme entrance exams will be announced soon.

“Two locked and sealed steel boxes containing the CLAT-2009 test material were found with broken latches and locks while in transit from Hyderabad to Lucknow through Blue Dart Courier services,” said Veer Singh, convener of CLAT-2009 and vice-chancellor of Nalsar University of Law in Hyderabad, the institute in charge of conducting this year’s entrance exam.
