Google has launched tool that suggests search queries
After long time in development, a new feature that suggests queries as letters and words are typed into Google search engine, is being rolled out over the next week.
Google Suggests is targeted to help users better formulate queries, reduce spelling errors and save keystrokes. Suggestions are based upon query popularity, so when the smallest amount of input is entered in the search bar, the most popular terms are yielded. As more variables are entered, the more specific the suggestions become.
What we typed What Google suggested
“a” Amazon
“a t” A to G
“a ti” – “a time to” A time to kill
“a time to b” – “a time to be” A time to be so small lyrics
“a time to be b” A time to be born lyrics
While this usage may be more of an indication of the laziness of Google employees rather than their technological wizardry, there are some other applications – typing in lyrics to a song can bring up the title and the artist’s name, ambiguity can be removed (for example Washington state or Washington DC) and spelling errors reduced.
The feature can already be seen in the Firefox Search Box and Google Maps as well as mobile devices such as the iPhone and BlackBerry.
you can download Google Suggest for your Internet Exploder or Firefox toolbar.
