Attack on Churches in Karnataka and Orissa
Two more churches have been vandalized in the southern Indian state of Karnataka.
One just wonders what the logic is behind when Islamic terrorists are targeting the country “New Delhi was terrorized on 14th September, as exactly predicted earlier after the series of bombings from Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Bangalore and Hyderabad, where more than 30 people were killed and scores of others injured.
But, then the more prominent question is why our own brand of Hindu fundamentalists are targeting or venting their ire against the innocents. One would like to ask the leadership of forces like the VHP and Bajrangdal that are enacting thandava in States like Orissa and Karnataka, where Christians and their Churches are being targeted.
The Christian community appealed to the state and the Centre to stop the violence in Karnataka, give suitable compensation for the damage and give support to Christians, especially those who were attacked.
It also called for providing necessary protection and proper security to churches and convents and initiate an impartial inquiry into the incidents
At least 20 people – most of them Christians – were killed after a Hindu religious leader there was shot dead.
